Our youth club continues its success. Recently we had great scrimmages vs Laguna Hills and Marco Forrester, and tournaments at San Clemente and Fountain Valley. The kids got great experience at all events, and we continue to bring home some great hardware at tournaments. Most recently, Caleb Park was awarded our first “Wrestler of the Month” for his recent performances, including a second place finish in the advanced division at Fountain Valley.
He is an exciting wrestler to watch. He is incredibly aggressive and attacks the legs non-stop.
Caleb’s accomplishments are extraordinary, for he is only a second year wrestler. He has worked very hard in the offseason, and it shows. He is defeating wrestlers who have many years more experience than he does, and is doing very well in the advanced division at tournaments. Hats off to him for all his hard work!
Recently, on Friday Nov 2, the CVHS Booster Club hosted a youth clinic for novice wrestlers in grades k-8. All the kids had fun, and got a lot of good instruction and attention from the many coaches and counselors in attendance. Some pictures are below
Our winter session information is up! You can find by clicking on the “session” tab above.
Our competitions season has begun! Check out some of the highlights:
First, 13 of our wrestlers competed at the El Dorado tournament. Joseph and Craig finished third, Caleb and Rodrigo finished second, while Max and Brayden finished first:
Next, two of our wrestlers drove all the way up to LA to compete in the “Megatron” tournament at the LA Convention center. After winter break, things started up again with the La Puente tournament, and then a scrimmage with Santa Ana wolfpack. Here are some pics from that event:
And just today 12 Big Kat wrestlers competed at the San Clemente tournament. Gerardo, Caleb, and Brayden finished first, while Craig and Max finished third:
Great job to everyone! You make us all proud and everyone is having a blast.
Our information about our winter program is up!
Click HERE for information about our winter program.
Practices will be devoted to technique instruction, skill-based games, basic strength and lifting instruction, and sparring. Competitions run from December through February and are highly encouraged.
The location is at Capo Valley’s wrestling facility. Drive behind the gym and past the tennis courts. The wrestling room is immediately after the tennis courts (before you get to the weightroom). Can’t miss it: says “wrestling” on it.
Wear workout clothes, and bring wrestling shoes, headgear, and tennis shoes every session. Loafers (ex: vans, DC Shoes) are not recommended, for we will be doing some lifting and running outside. Mouthpiece and knee pads optional, but mouthpiece is encouraged.
You cannot register on Community Ed’s website yet. Check back in early fall for registration being up. In the meantime, email coach Bordner at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to be put on our email list to receive a head’s up about when registration goes live (among other things).
See you guys then!
Here’s a little highlight video to pump you up for the season.
Remember, each one of the guys in this video didn’t just wake up like that. They, too, were once young grade schoolers like you. It all started for them years ago with a dream, and an incredible will to sacrifice an incredible amount to get there.
“All men are created equal but some work harder in the off season.”
“Sleep is for those who are broke.”
What are you doing TODAY to ensure success TOMORROW?
Remember, dream big, but dreams don’t come true without an insane amount of work, sweat, hardship, sacrifice, failure, and suffering…put down the video game controller and get in the real game.
Sign ups continue! Practices start Nov 7. Get in on the action, folks!
