Our BK wrestlers have been quite active the past few weeks during the beginning of the season. Here are some highlights:
Jorge Gonzalez wrestled in his first tournament at Rowland Heights in December, and placed second! That earned him Wrestler of the Week honors:
Craig Phoenix, a second year wrestler, has been very impressive at the advanced level. He has placed in all tournaments he wrestled in. His performance at Brea earned him W.O.W honors for week 2:
We’ve traveled to a few other rooms too, participating in a scrimmage at San Clemente, and partaking in a clinic at Surfside in Huntington Beach, featuring 3x College D1 All-American (Northwestern) Jason Welch.
Lastly, the BKWC came up big at the Cerritos College Tournament of Champions this last Sunday. We took 8 wrestlers, and all 8 medaled in the top 3. This is the first time we’ve ever medaled all our entries, and 8 medalists is a record number for us too. Gerardo Hernandez was named W.O.W for finishing first in the advanced division:
Things are looking up for us, and we have lots to celebrate. We are at it again this week with a scrimmage at Laguna Hills and a tournament at San Clemente.
It’s not too late to join if you haven’t yet! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.

Our winter session information is up! You can find by clicking on the “session” tab above.
Thanks to all who came out to the summer wrestling camp these last two weeks. 23 kids from grades 2-9 had fun and improved their skills. Lots of new wrestlers, and our returning wrestlers are really starting to pick up momentum. We were able to have 3 separate groups of wrestlers according to skill level. Its an exciting time in our program. Everyone had a blast!
Info on our winter session will be released in Mid September. Check back then!
A HUGE thanks goes out to all who came out to our spring program the last six weeks. Each night we had between 15 and 25 kids. We greatly enjoyed your enthusiasm, and are happy that you “caught the bug” for our wonderful sport.
The picture below is of the Wednesday crew the last week. See you all in July (summer camp info is in the post under this one)!
